How to prepare your signature for an online form

1. Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen. A slightly thick pen works best.
2. Take a clear photo in daylight, holding the phone straight above the paper.
3. Crop it: drag and zoom so the signature fills the frame with a little space around it.
4. Clean it up: the background becomes pure white automatically. Move "Background cleanup" towards "More" if grey patches remain, or towards "Less" if thin strokes disappear.
5. Pick the size and KB range from the notification and download the file.

Common requirements

Many recruitment forms ask for a signature of 140 × 60 pixels and 10–20 KB. Others ask for a size in centimetres, such as 4 × 2 cm. Always use the exact dimensions and file size given in your notification.

A 140 × 60 signature is usually much smaller than 10 KB, even at the best quality. That is why many people struggle with the "file too small" error. This tool pads the file up to the minimum size you set, without changing the signature itself.

Tips for a signature that won't be rejected

• Sign the way you normally sign on your documents; it may be compared later.
• Avoid capital letters unless that is truly how you sign. Some notifications do not accept signatures written in capital letters.
• Fill the frame. A tiny signature in a large white box becomes unreadable at 140 × 60 pixels.
• Avoid lines and shadows. Don't sign on ruled paper, and keep your hand's shadow off the paper when taking the photo.
