How is age calculated?
Age is counted in completed years, then completed months, then the remaining days. For example, someone born on 15 August 2001 is 25 years 1 month 9 days old on 24 September 2026. That is 9,171 days, and they were born on a Wednesday.
When a birthday falls on a day that does not exist in a month (such as the 31st), the calculator counts the month as complete on that month's last day, which is the usual convention.
Age limits in government exams
Every recruitment notification gives a minimum and maximum age "as on" a cut-off date, such as 1 January or 1 August. Your age on that date, not today, decides whether you can apply. Enter that date in "Age as on" above.
An age limit of "18 to 30 years" usually means you must have turned 18, and must not have turned 31, on the cut-off date. Notifications normally also give the exact dates between which you must have been born; always go by those.

Maharashtra state exams and other recruiting bodies may use different relaxations, and there may be extra relaxation for groups such as women or government employees. Always check the notification for your exam and change the "Relaxation" box if needed.

Frequently asked questions
What does "age as on 1 August" mean?
It means your age is counted on 1 August of that year, whatever date you apply on. Someone who is 30 today but will be 31 on the cut-off date may not be eligible.
If the upper age limit is 30, can I apply at 30 years and 11 months?
Usually yes, because you have not yet turned 31. But notifications define this with exact dates of birth, so check the "born between" dates in your notification.
Is there an age relaxation for EWS candidates?
For central government posts, EWS candidates generally get no age relaxation. Some states give one, so check your exam's notification.
Which date of birth is used for exams?
Most recruiting bodies accept the date of birth recorded in your 10th (SSC/matriculation) certificate. Make sure the date you enter in the form matches it exactly.
